I had been looking forward to this run for a week! My run today started off at the Miami Half/Full break away point, and I continued on the 2nd half of the Miami Full course to just beyond the finish point. It was of symbolic importance to me to "finish" the course, albeit one week later and minus aid stations, volunteers, fans and road closures. Yesterday I had printed out a small version of the course map, laminated it, and ran with it today. I took 2 GU/water stops--one at the outside Starbucks in Coconut Grove (where 2 pit bull owners were complimenting each others' dogs, on leashes thankfully) and at a water fountain on the south side of the Rickenbacker Causeway. Lots of runners and a TON of bicyclists out there...I gave out waves, thumbs ups and 'congrats' to those in Miami Marathon/Half gear. Many times you hear about when races seem to cater to the Half, then leave the 2nd half (of the Full) on boring or unpleasant stretches...not here in Miami! I had run the Full in Miami in 2009, and vividly remembered the beautiful palm trees, colorful houses, lovely shopping areas in Coconut Grove; the skyline over the picturesque Miami River and Biscayne Bay in Brickell; and finishing on Miami's legendary Bayfront Park. LOVED THIS RUN!! Heading back home later today.

I did not have trouble with my left side/left hamstring. I was on a wonderful cruise to Grand Cayman and Jamaica from Monday to yesterday and had only did one short easy run Friday (on the ship's upper deck track). Lots of great memories from the week! The mug today is me singing karaoke (this particular song was Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife") on the ship, which I did most nights. Love the 'pose', unfortunate it is a horrible quality photo.

Song of the day: "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley...the song that greeted us and waved us goodbye for our time in beautiful Jamaica.
